ART THERAPY
Art therapy allows a person to express - in colors, shapes and designs - those emotions that are too unclear to express in words. It provides the opportunity to connect to one’s feelings through creativity without having to formulate those feelings through logic and reason.
Art therapy provides the opportunity to go back to the times when life was a blank page and it didn’t matter what you colored on it. Every picture is an opportunity to relax into the art allowing the emotions of the moment to emerge. The art can be looked upon afterwards or put away in a safe place. It will later come out as a witness to a journey, of release, of expression, some of pain and others of joy.
The art is a tool. It is the creation that both therapist and client can look at without judgment, attempting to see it as it is, without the mask that covers so much of our true emotions. Through the art, each client can connect to their feelings, allowing themselves to create without worrying about the final product. It is freeing and allows every person at any age to experience their emotions through a different filter.
